The Opportunity

Teladoc Health Canada is seeking a Head and Neck Medical Oncologist to join our growing national team of virtual experts. This remote opportunity allows physicians to help shape the future of healthcare delivery while improving access to high-quality expert care for patients across Canada.

This fully remote opportunity allows the physician to contribute their expertise in a flexible, case-based model—supporting patients across Canada who are seeking trusted, high-quality second opinions for complex or life-changing diagnoses.

Position Summary

This role involves reviewing member cases and delivering clear, evidence‑based Expert Medical Opinion Reports (EMORs) that assess diagnoses, interpret clinical findings, and recommend next steps for care. The EMS program is member‑driven, so case volumes vary based on demand, allowing physicians to accept cases based on their availability and interest. Fully remote, flexible, and asynchronous, this role is well suited as a supplemental opportunity for specialist physicians looking to integrate meaningful work alongside existing clinical or academic commitments without the constraints of traditional clinical practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review member cases, records and questions and prepare a clear, comprehensive written report that addresses the member’s main concerns within three (3) days of case acceptance

  • Provide a thorough expert evaluation through a detailed review of the member’s case, including:

  • Confirming, refining, or reassessing an existing diagnosis

  • Reviewing and interpreting diagnostic tests, imaging, and clinical findings

  • Offering evidence-based insights on treatment options, medication effectiveness, and potential alternative therapies

  • Recommending additional investigations, referrals, or next steps to support optimal patient care

  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and territorial privacy legislation

About the Expert Medical Services (EMS) Program

The Expert Medical Services (EMS) program connects Members with specialty-matched physicians who provide expert guidance on diagnoses, treatment options, and complex medical concerns.

Through the EMS program, physicians collaborate closely with Teladoc’s internal clinical teams to deliver comprehensive, personalized expert evaluations. Cases are delivered through a secure, user-friendly virtual platform that enables document sharing, flexible scheduling across time zones, and detailed written reports for Member review.

The EMS program operates Monday-Friday 8am-8pm EST and requires a higher level of clinical engagement and time commitment per case compared to standard telehealth services.

Teladoc’s EMS program is designed to support Members throughout their medical journey by:

  • Facilitating remote opinions from specialty-matched clinicians for expert support

  • Collecting and reviewing medical records and diagnostic imaging to create a personalized health summary

  • Providing tailored responses to Members’ medical questions from dedicated physicians or leading experts for more complex cases

  • Offering tools and resources such as condition-specific educational materials, reputable websites, and recommendations to relevant support organizations and facilities

  • When in-person care is required, assisting Members in identifying appropriate providers near their location, with limited support available for out-of-country recommendations and resources when appropriate

Teladoc supports Members across a wide range of medical conditions by delivering virtual expert evaluations of diagnoses and treatment plans. Through coordinated medical record collection and diagnostic review, the Teladoc team provides expert clinical guidance from intake through case completion.

Comprehensive Internal Support

You will be supported by a multidisciplinary internal team, including:

  • Case Managers (CM): Member communication and intake

  • Clinical Operations Support Coordinator (COSC): Eligibility and Member onboarding

  • Medical Records Coordinator (MRC): Collection of records, imaging, and pathology

  • Triage Member Advocate: Case classification and routing

  • EMS Associate Physician: Preparation of a comprehensive clinical summary for your review

What You’ll Need

  • Active Canadian medical license in good standing with a provincial medical regulatory authority

  • Certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent

  • Demonstrated expertise in your specialty, with a strong reputation for clinical excellence

  • Academic, research, or teaching experience is strongly valued

  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, safe, and patient-centered care

  • Strong interest in advancing virtual care and acting as a clinical ambassador

  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and digital health platforms

  • Multilingual abilities (English, French, or other languages) are considered an asset but are not required
